A healthy lifestyle can be as sweet as candy!


There are some things that are so commonly purchased at the store, people don’t even think twice about making it themselves. Almond milk, peanut butter, and jam to name a few. Now, I have already done my post about almond milk, so I’m shifting the spotlight to JAM…a household breakfast staple in a jar that usually sits in the door of your fridge for years. I am all about convenience, but hey, in the time it takes to get to the store and back (for me at least) I could have jars upon jars of this stuff-aside from the fact that if you make it yourself it’s healthier, has less sugar, and IT’S FRESH! (And what I really love is that it’s so quick and easy so you can really throw any kind of fruit in there to make your favorite flavor in a flash!) This morning my oatmeal needed some jazzin’ up (or should I say jammin’ up) and my healthy strawberry-raspberry chia jam did just the trick!

Strawberry & Raspberry Chia Jam

1 cup strawberries (hulled and cut in half)

1 cup raspberries

1 tablespoon agave or honey

1 tsp vanilla

1 tablespoon chia seeds

Place berries in a pot over medium heat. Stir continuously as the berries break down. Add the agave, vanilla, and chia seeds. Cook for about 10 minutes all together or until the berries break down completely. Transfer to a bowl to cool. Image
